The spiritual heart of Tashkent — a square of mosques, madrasahs and a mausoleum in the old town. Its main relic is the 7th-century Uthman Quran, one of the world's oldest Quran manuscripts, kept in the complex's library. Nearby stand the 16th-century Barak-Khan Madrasah, the Tillya-Sheikh Mosque and the modern Hazrati Imam Friday Mosque with its twin minarets.
